Manfred Dondarrion
Ser Manfred Dondarrion was a knight of House Dondarrion, son of the lord of Blackhaven during the reign of King Daeron II Targaryen. He is remembered for two episodes: a military campaign in the Red Mountains, and an encounter — more awkward than heroic — with the hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall at a tournament in the Stormlands.
Chapter 1
The Vulture King's war
206 AC
Manfred was the son of Lord Dondarrion, lord of Blackhaven under the reign of Daeron II Targaryen. He was a lean man with unruly copper hair, who wore a black wool surcoat marked with his house's purple lightning bolt.
In the year 206, he rode with his father's army and that of Lord Pearse Caron on the campaign that brought down the Vulture King in the Red Mountains.
Chapter 2
The knight who wouldn't vouch
At the Ashford Tourney, Ser Duncan the Tall pointed him out to the master of the games as someone who could vouch for his standing as a knight. When Duncan sought him out, though, Manfred showed no sign of recognizing him. Duncan then recited the lineage of House Dondarrion, hoping the name might ring a bell, but Manfred remained indifferent and said there was nothing he could do.
Later, when Duncan needed a seventh knight to stand with him in a Trial of Seven, he turned to him again. Manfred ignored the plea and, instead of answering, made a remark to the noblewoman seated beside him.
