Gawen Westerling
Gawen Westerling is the lord of the Crag and head of his house, married to Sybell Spicer. He is chiefly remembered because his daughter Jeyne's marriage pulled him into Stark-Lannister politics in the middle of the war.
Those who dealt with him describe a good man, though one with more honor than sense for weighing what his actions might cost.

Robb StarkWhen Lord Tywin Lannister called his bannermen, Gawen answered and joined Ser Jaime Lannister's army. The campaign ended badly for him: he was taken prisoner during the battle of the Whispering Wood, the same fight in which Robb Stark's forces broke the Lannister host.

A prisoner at Varamar

He was held at Varamar while a ransom was arranged for him. He only left once his daughter Jeyne had married King Robb Stark, a match sealed without his consent.
Chapter 4
Pardoned after the Red Wedding

After the slaughter that wiped out much of his son-in-law's army, the Iron Throne granted Gawen a pardon.
Chapter 5
The siege of Riverrun
Books only
He served with the Lannister-Frey army besieging Riverrun, where he pressed the commanders toward a negotiated end: his wife and children were inside the castle, and he feared what a forced resolution might bring on them. When the garrison surrendered, he was reunited with his family and travelled back with them to the Crag. Whether he knew by then that Sybell had betrayed Robb Stark isn't recorded.
