Sybell Spicer
Sybell Spicer is the Lady of the Crag, wife of Lord Gawen Westerling and mother of Jeyne Westerling. Her family carries no ancient blood: her grandfather was a merchant who traded in saffron and pepper, and it was marriage into the Westerlings that raised the Spicers into the lesser nobility of the Westerlands.
She rode with the retinue that followed King Robb Stark during his campaign, and her name has been tied ever since to the house a king chose to marry into.
Chapter 1
A granddaughter of Maggy the Frog

Sybell was not born into a house with an old sigil. Her grandfather made his fortune trading saffron and pepper, and her grandmother was Maggy the Frog. The name Spicer still carries that trade.
Marriage to Gawen Westerling, Lord of the Crag, changed that fortune: it made the Spicers kin to a house with a seat among the lesser nobility of the Westerlands.

The king's retinue

Edmure TullyWhen King Robb Stark settled in the Westerlands, Sybell joined his retinue. Grey Wind frightened her so badly she kept her distance from him. Every morning she brought her daughter Jeyne a mixture of herbs, milk, and ale that she said was meant to help her conceive.
When Robb marched his army to the Twins for Lord Edmure Tully's wedding, Sybell stayed behind at Riverrun with her daughters Jeyne and Eleyna and her son Rollam. After the slaughter that followed that wedding, the Iron Throne pardoned her for her part in the plot against the Starks.

Tywin LannisterRiverrun held out under siege with Sybell and her children inside. When Edmure Tully surrendered the castle to Ser Jaime Lannister, Sybell sought Jaime out to tell him her part in the scheme against Robb Stark. She tore from Jeyne the crown the king had given her, and when her daughter stood up to her she struck her hard enough to swell her face; Jaime had to stop her from striking a second blow.
Sybell told him the herb mixture she had spent months giving Jeyne had never been meant to help her conceive, but to keep her from it, and that in exchange Lord Tywin Lannister had promised lords or heirs for her other daughters.
Chapter 4
The marriages Tywin promised

Sybell asked about Raynald, who had gone to the Twins: had she known what would happen there, she would never have let him go. Jaime promised to pay his ransom if he was still held prisoner, and told her a bride had already been found for Raynald at Casterly Rock: Joy Hill, the bastard daughter of Gerion Lannister. He also told her that her brother Rolph Spicer would be named Lord of Castamere.
Sybell was furious to learn her eldest son would marry a bastard. The next day she left for the Westerlands with her daughter, escorted by Ser Forley Prester.
