House Seaworth of Cape Wrath

On this tab

House Seaworth is a minor house of the Stormlands, sworn to the Baratheons of Dragonstone. It began with a single man: a former smuggler whose act of courage during a siege earned him land, a modest stronghold, and a knighthood on Cape Wrath.

Davos's Knighting

Davos made his living slipping past blockades before the war for the throne broke out. When the Redwyne fleet ringed Storm's End and hunger gnawed at the men inside its walls, he managed to sneak through with a hold full of onions and salted fish that kept the besieged garrison alive.

In return he was granted a holding on Cape Wrath, a minor stronghold, and a knighthood — the start of the house that would carry his name. The same king who raised him, Stannis Baratheon, did not overlook his old trade: he had the tips of the fingers on his left hand cut off for his years of smuggling.

Hand of the King

Years later, when Lord Alester Florent failed King Stannis, the king cast the nobleman aside and put the former smuggler in his place: Davos became his Hand. Along with the post came a new lordship, Rainwood, and command of the royal fleet as Admiral of the Narrow Sea.

Whether these titles would pass to his children, or die with him, is not recorded.
