House Toyne

A knight of House Toyne, Ser Terrence, wore the white cloak of the Kingsguard and made the one mistake that oath allows no one: he fell in love with one of King Aegon IV's mistresses. Once the affair came out, the king's sentence left no room for doubt, and Terrence was executed.

His two brothers refused to let the matter rest and set out for revenge, only to run into Aemon the Dragonknight, who killed them both. The house, its name already stained by the scandal, began its slow decline from there.

Later another Toyne, Simon, took up arms outside the law and rose to lead the Kingswood Brotherhood, an outlaw band that ranged freely through the woods near the capital.

His story ended when Ser Barristan Selmy hunted him down while rescuing Jeyne Swann and her septa, held captive by the brotherhood. Simon died in that encounter, and with him the Westerosi branch of the house went out.

Across the narrow sea, Myles Toyne rose to command the Golden Company, the most famous of the mercenary bands of Westerosi exiles, earning the name Blackheart.

He is the last known member of the house, and his disappearance in Essos closed the branch that had crossed the sea as well. No heir and no seat remained to claim for House Toyne.
