Donella Manderly

Halys Hornwood, lord of Hornwood, is killed at the battle of the Green Fork. Soon after, the couple's remaining son falls at the battle of the Whispering Wood at the hands of Jaime Lannister.

With no living children and no clear heir, Donella takes charge of House Hornwood and becomes Lady of Hornwood.

With the Hornwood lands lacking an heir, several northern houses begin maneuvering over the inheritance, and Donella receives marriage offers despite being in mourning and past her childbearing years.

Learning that Ramsay Snow is gathering men at the Dreadfort, she sends her bannermen to look into his reasons, fearing that the Bastard of Bolton, as a neighboring lord, covets her lands.

She attends the harvest feast at Winterfell with only six armed men and discusses her options there with Ser Rodrik Cassel and Maester Luwin. Her cousin Wyman Manderly offers his own hand or that of his son Wendel; she turns down Manderly for his weight and Mors Umber, who also courts her, for his age.

On her way back to Hornwood after the feast, Ramsay Snow kidnaps her and forces her to marry him that same night, and to consummate the marriage as well. Meanwhile, Wyman Manderly occupies Hornwood castle in an attempt to keep the lands safe from the Boltons.

After the wedding, Ramsay locks her in a tower and stops feeding her. She is found dead, blood on her mouth, her fingers eaten away.

In the crypts of Winterfell, Lady Barbrey Ryswell tells Theon that the Hornwood men who come for their lord's new wedding have not forgotten how he treated his previous wife.
