Marlon Manderly

Ser Marlon Manderly is cousin to Lord Wyman Manderly, head of House Manderly, and serves as commander of the garrison of White Harbor. He holds a trusted place at his lord's side, sitting at his right hand whenever the house receives visitors of consequence.

He is known for a silver suit of armor worked with sea motifs and a helm shaped like a merman's head, as striking as the haughty voice with which he questions anyone brought before the Manderlys.

Ser Marlon Manderly is cousin to Lord Wyman Manderly and serves as commander of the garrison of White Harbor. He has an iron-gray beard, gray hair and slate-colored eyes, and speaks in a voice that leaves no doubt about his rank.

For great occasions he wears a suit of silver armor with greaves and gauntlets niello-worked into rippling seaweed, topped by a helm shaped like the Merling King's head, crowned with mother-of-pearl and a little beard of jet and jade.

Chapter 2

The interrogation at the Merman's Court

Books only

When Ser Davos Seaworth arrives at White Harbor, it is Ser Marlon who escorts him to the Merman's Court and who sits at Lord Wyman's right hand during the audience. There he puts Davos through a close interrogation about what real strength backs Stannis Baratheon, picking apart his answers one by one.

The meeting ends with Lord Wyman's order to lock Davos in the Wolf's Den and put him to death, a sentence Ser Marlon receives but which is never carried out.

His mistrust of Stannis's cause is captured in one line of his: "For a hundred years and more no wildling has been seen near White Harbor, and the ironborn have never raided these shores. Will Lord Stannis defend us against sharks and dragons too?"

Chapter 3

The brawl at Winterfell

Books only

At Winterfell, a brawl between the Freys and White Harbor's men leaves Lord Wyman badly wounded. Four knights close ranks around him to shield him, and one of them, an older man bearing three silver mermaids on a purple field, matches Ser Marlon's description.
