Theomore Manderly

As a young man, Theomore won renown as a warrior. Once he had become head of House Manderly, he proved himself a capable lord, and under his rule White Harbor prospered.

In old age he kept the bulk of a large man, and was still held to be a skilled fighter and a shrewd lord, even though the years had cost him whatever good looks he once had.

In 58 AC, White Harbor was the first city Queen Alysanne Targaryen visited on her progress through the realm, and tens of thousands of northmen crowded the streets to see her and her dragon, Silverwing. The crowd was so large it startled Lord Theomore himself, who wondered aloud where so many people had come from.

Lord Manderly welcomed the queen with feasts, a tourney, and an audience of women held in his own hall, something the North had never seen before. Before she left, the queen had betrothed three of her ladies to two of Theomore's younger sons and a nephew of his, and she took his eldest daughter and three nieces south with her to find them husbands at court. That same year, Theomore also traveled to King's Landing, for the tourney marking the first decade of Jaehaerys I's reign.

In 72 AC, one of Theomore's daughters married young Lord Darklyn, and the wedding was marked with a tourney at Duskendale.

Fourteen years later, in 86 AC, Queen Alysanne announced the betrothal of her fifteen-year-old daughter, Princess Viserra, to an aged Theomore. He was still a fearsome fighter, but he had grown very fat and was no longer a handsome man. The wedding never took place: the princess died shortly before she was to sail for White Harbor.
