Wylis Manderly

When Robb Stark calls his banners, Wylis leaves White Harbor at the head of his own men and escorts Lady Catelyn Tully out of the city. The northern host soon splits, and he is placed under Lord Roose Bolton's command.

His column is broken at the Green Fork, and Wylis is taken prisoner by the Lannisters.

A prisoner at Harrenhal, Wylis becomes a bargaining piece: Lord Tywin Lannister offers to return him if Wyman Manderly abandons Robb Stark's cause, and Tyrion later proposes trading him and Harrion Karstark for Willem Lannister. Wyman turns down the first offer.

Free to move about the castle after swearing not to flee, Wylis wanders the kitchens looking for food, and word of a hungry «fat lord» reaches Arya Stark, who does not yet know his name.

When Roose Bolton marches his army out of Harrenhal, Wylis moves north with his men to cross the Trident at Ruby Ford and join Robb Stark at the Twins, where Edmure Tully is to wed Roslin Frey. The ford proves impassable and the men cross by boat, with Wylis and the White Harbor knights holding the rear.

With a third of the host still to cross, Gregor Clegane's heavy horse falls on the stragglers. Wylis tries to rally his men, but the charge scatters them: many drown or die fighting, and he himself is taken prisoner again.

The Iron Throne negotiates with Wyman Manderly over White Harbor's submission to the new Warden of the North, Roose Bolton, but Wyman makes Wylis's safe return a condition. Cersei Lannister further demands he execute his prisoner Davos Seaworth as proof of loyalty, and sends Jaime Lannister to lift the siege of Riverrun with orders to learn what has become of Wylis.

Arriving at Harrenhal, now held by Gregor Clegane, Jaime finds Wylis starved, filthy, and broken after months of captivity; told he will be sent home, he breaks down in tears. Jaime has him escorted to Maidenpool under Ronnet Connington's command.

Davos Seaworth arrives at White Harbor to sound out an alliance with Stannis Baratheon and learns that Wylis was still a Lannister prisoner, which turns the negotiations into a delicate matter. Wyman is openly hostile before Frey witnesses and orders Davos arrested, while his daughter-in-law Leona Woolfield accuses him of stirring more treason.

When Wylis finally returns to White Harbor, his father holds a welcoming feast at the New Castle. In private, Wyman tells Davos he had to fake his execution with another prisoner to secure his son's return, after Tywin Lannister threatened to kill Wylis if White Harbor did not submit.
