Medrick Manderly

When Prince Jacaerys Velaryon rode through the North seeking support for his mother's claim to the Iron Throne, he called at both White Harbor and Winterfell. Lord Desmond Manderly answered by sending a fleet to King's Landing under his two sons, Ser Medrick and Ser Torrhen, to back Queen Rhaenyra.

The strength they brought was enough to earn both brothers seats on the queen's council. Once the betrayals at Ladera came to light, the Manderly brothers were among those who began to voice doubts about Addam Velaryon and Nettles.

When King's Landing broke into riots, Medrick led a hundred White Harbor soldiers and restored order in the district between Aegon's High Hill and the Iron Gate.

Prince Joffrey Velaryon fled the castle on the dragon Syrax toward the Dragonpit, and Rhaenyra ordered him brought back to the Red Keep. Medrick was one of seven knights sent after him. They found him already dead and stripped in Flea Bottom, and recovering his body cost three of them their lives.

After the Storming of the Dragonpit, the Manderly brothers escorted Rhaenyra as she fled the capital. Medrick tried to persuade her to sail with them to White Harbor, but the queen chose to make for Dragonstone instead.

Once the war was over, during the Hour of the Wolf, Medrick offered to carry the men who had chosen to take the black in King's Landing to White Harbor by sea, aboard the Estrella del Norte.

Grand Maester Orwyle had escaped his confinement before they sailed, so Medrick made a guard who had helped him pay for it, forcing him to take Orwyle's place in the Night's Watch instead.

Medrick and his father died in 132 AC, only four days apart, both taken by a winter fever in White Harbor. The news made his brother Torrhen give up his regency over Aegon III and return home to take up the lordship.

He was regarded as a fearsome man and the finest knight in the North, though those who dealt with him also called him courteous.
