Clan Stane de Driftwood Hall
House Stane is one of the lineages that rule the rugged island of Skagos, at the northern edge of the realm, seated at Driftwood Hall. Like the island's other houses, it descends from the First Men, and its loyalty to the lords of Winterfell is more a formality than a reality, since it is rarely seen taking part in the affairs of the rest of the North.
Chapter 1
Lords of an island apart

Driftwood Hall is the seat of House Stane, from where they rule their part of Skagos, the mountainous island off the North's coast. Like the island's other houses, they share descent from the First Men and a simple sigil: a bare, leafless driftwood tree on a pale green field.
Their loyalty to Winterfell exists more on paper than in practice: the lords of the North recognize them as vassals, but generally leave them to rule themselves on their island.
Chapter 2
A Stane leading the rangers
Books only
The Annals of the Black Centaur record that a member of the clan rose to the rank of First Ranger of the Night's Watch. The record does not dwell on his tenure: it merely notes that he died shortly after attaining it.
