House Locke of Oldcastle

Long before any other name held sway over them, the Lockes wore their own crown in the North, until Stark strength reduced them to bannermen. They kept their house and their seat at Oldcastle, and for two centuries also held the coastal stronghold known as the Wolf's Den.

Ser Donnel Locke fought at the Battle of the Green Fork, and the evidence suggests he ended up a captive, though the sources never fully confirm it.

Another Locke, Ser Mallador, wore the black: he was among the two hundred brothers who marched out of Castle Black on the Great Ranging beyond the Wall. Meanwhile Ser Donnel won his freedom, probably when Harrenhal fell, after months as a prisoner.

The war also reached the women and children of the name: when the ironborn took Deepwood Motte, Lady Sybelle Locke and her children were captured by Asha Greyjoy.

The house paid a heavy price at the Ruby Ford: most of its men were still waiting their turn to cross, held in the rearguard on the southern bank, when Gregor Clegane's Lannister force fell on the stragglers.

Farther north, Ser Mallador did not survive the ranging beyond the Wall: he died sometime between the Battle of the Fist of the First Men and the retreat toward Craster's Keep.

Ser Donnel traveled to the Twins for Ser Edmure Tully's wedding, meant to seal a peace after the war. There, when the feast turned to slaughter, he met his death.

At White Harbor, when Davos Seaworth came before Lord Wyman Manderly to talk of the war, among those present was a man wearing the Locke emblem.

Lord Ondrew Locke traveled to Winterfell for the wedding of Ramsay Bolton to the girl everyone called Arya Stark, and once the ceremony ended he stayed at the castle with his men. Formally they answered to Lord Roose Bolton, but Theon Greyjoy, watching them closely, doubted their loyalty was as solid as it appeared.
