House Swann of Stonehelm
Casa Swann de Yelmo de Piedra
The Swanns have ruled Stonehelm for longer than anyone can precisely say, and by power and reach they stand as the second house of the Stormlands, behind only the Baratheons of Storm's End.
Together with the Carons and the Dondarrions they form the core of the marcher houses watching the border with Dorne, and their name comes up whenever the Crown needs to know who can be counted on in the south of the realm.
Chapter 1
The lords of Stonehelm
Books only
Old and proud, House Swann holds a place apart among the lords of the Stormlands: they are reckoned the most powerful house after the Baratheons, and their caution in choosing sides is as well known as their sigil, two swans combatant on a field parted white and black.
Their lands cover Atalaya Roja, and along with the Carons and the Dondarrions they share the name of marcher houses, though only the Carons hold the title of Lord of the Marches. The Swanns are sworn to Storm's End, and from Stonehelm they watch a border that has seen more than one war.
Chapter 2
Aegon II's side
Books only
When the throne split in two during the Dance of the Dragons, the Swanns did not hesitate: they threw their house's weight behind Aegon II Targaryen, joining the green faction in a war that pitted the dragons' own blood against itself.
