Jonothor Darry
Ser Jonothor Darry was a knight of the Kingsguard of King Aerys II Targaryen, the sworn order bound to protect the monarch and his family above any other cause.
His name is tied to the final years of Targaryen rule, when he rode out with Prince Rhaegar to war in the days of Robert's Rebellion.
Chapter 1
A white cloak under Aerys

Ser Jonothor Darry, also called Jon Darry, wore the white cloak during the reign of Aerys II Targaryen. Some sources name him as the brother of Ser Willem Darry, though that kinship is never fully confirmed.
Those who knew him remembered a serious man, reserved by nature, who placed his order's vow above any other bond or convenience.

Aerys II TargaryenAfter the Battle of the Bells, Ser Jonothor was sent together with Ser Barristan Selmy to gather what remained of Lord Jon Connington's army, the Hand of the King defeated in that fight.
He also stood guard, alongside Ser Jaime Lannister, on the night Aerys II burned his next Hand, Qarlton Chelsted, alive, while inside his chambers the king forced himself on Queen Rhaella. Jaime said they ought to protect her; Jonothor answered that they should, but that from the king himself, they could not.

The march to the Trident

Rhaegar TargaryenSer Jonothor was one of the three Kingsguard knights who rode out from the Red Keep with Prince Rhaegar Targaryen to lead the royal army. Before they left, Jaime Lannister asked to take his place and ride out instead of remaining on guard in the capital. Jonothor told him to keep to his own duties: "When you put on that cloak, you vowed to obey."
He died at the Battle of the Trident, the clash that decided Robert's Rebellion, in the year 283 AC.
