Derrick Darry
Derrick Darry was Lord of Darry during the Dance of the Dragons, the civil war that pitted Rhaenyra Targaryen against her half-brother Aegon II for the Iron Throne. He inherited a lordship already battered by the conflict and led his house's cause on the black side.
At the head of men gathered in haste after the autumn defeats, he fought under the command of Ser Addam Velaryon in the fighting around Ladera.
Chapter 1
The castle in flames
Books only
The then Lord Darry and his heir perished when Prince Aemond Targaryen, riding Vhagar, burned Castillo Darry to ash — punishment for House Darry's support of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in her claim to the Iron Throne.
His wife and a young son escaped the slaughter by hiding in the castle's vaults, and that child is thought to have been Derrick himself, who would thus have inherited the title.
Chapter 2
The grey-bearded levy
Books only
Though his house had been battered in the autumn fighting, Lord Derrick managed to raise a new force of grey-bearded veterans and untried youths, and with them joined the Second Battle of Ladera.
He fought under the command of Ser Addam Velaryon, who led the black forces in the region.
Chapter 3
An uncertain death
130 ACBooks only
Whether Lord Derrick fell in the battle itself or died some time afterward is unknown: what is certain is that by the time the Battle of the Camino Real was fought, Roland Darry already held the title of Lord of Darry in his place.
