Jeyne Darry
Jeyne Darry is one of the last heirs of a house the war left almost extinguished, and the widow of Ser Cleos Frey, eldest son of Lord Emmon Frey and Lady Genna Lannister. Her story matters for what is left of her family: two sons who, as Frey grandchildren and Darry descendants, end up caught in the dispute over Riverrun.
Chapter 1
The last Darrys
Books only
Both her grandfather and her father, Lord Darry, ruled the house before her, and her three older brothers died in the Battle of the Trident. Less reliable sources make her the sister of Raymun and Mariya Darry.
The family shrinks to almost nothing when Ser Gregor Clegane kills Lord Lyman Darry: only Jeyne and her elder sister Mariya are left of House Darry.
Chapter 2
Widow of Cleos Frey
Books only
Married to Ser Cleos Frey —eldest son of Lord Emmon Frey and Lady Genna Lannister— Jeyne had two sons with him, Tywin and Willem.
Outlaws kill Cleos Frey and leave her a widow.
Chapter 3
The title she wasn't given
Books only
When House Darry's main line dies out, the lordship of Darry goes not to Jeyne's sons but to Lancel Lannister and his wife Amerei Frey, Mariya's daughter. According to Lady Genna Lannister, this leaves Jeyne furious.
The new title is secure because no Darry is left to challenge it; the danger comes from elsewhere, from the Tullys, who are still alive even though they have lost Riverrun.
That is where Jeyne's sons matter: as grandsons of Lord Emmon Frey and heirs of Cleos Frey, they stand near the front of the line of succession should Riverrun ever change hands.
