Lord Darry Dance of the Dragons
Not to be confused with Lord Darry.
Lord Darry was the head of House Darry during the Dance of the Dragons, the civil war that split Viserys I's descendants over the Iron Throne.
He placed his house and his men at the service of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, taking part in the Trident campaigns aimed at opening the road to King's Landing.
Chapter 1
The black banner at Harrenhal's gate
When war broke out between Rhaenyra's supporters and Aegon II's, Lord Darry sided with the princess without hesitation. He placed his house at the service of the Blacks and marched with the host of Prince Daemon Targaryen, Rhaenyra's consort, in the campaign to seize Stone Hedge.
Chapter 2
The ruse on the shores of Gods Eye
Later, Lord Darry joined Lord Roote and Ser Oswald Wode to attack the vanguard of Ser Criston Cole's forces as they advanced on Harrenhal. They lost the fight on the shores of Gods Eye, but the defeat concealed a maneuver: holding Cole back long enough to keep him away from King's Landing.
That delay gave Prince Daemon the time he needed to seize the capital for Rhaenyra's cause.
Chapter 3
Vhagar's fire over Darry
130 AC
When word came that the Blacks had taken King's Landing, Prince Aemond Targaryen, who had escorted Cole's men on the back of his dragon Vhagar, retaliated by burning the lands and castles of the river lords. Darry burned first.
Lord Darry, his son and heir, and forty archers died on the battlements trying to defend the castle. His wife and younger children survived, hidden in the vaults.
After his death, Derrick Darry became the new Lord of Darry.
