Estermont

Estermont is a small, mountainous island off the cape of Wrath, in the Stormlands, and the seat of House Estermont from its stronghold of Greenstone.

Its blood runs in the veins of the Baratheon kings, which makes its nobles valuable hostages for anyone looking for captives with real political weight.

Chapter 1

The Storm Kingdom swallows the island

Books only

Before anyone called it Estermont, the island and its smaller neighbors to the south were a territory apart. It was King Erich Durrandon, called the Sailor, who conquered them and folded them into the Storm Kingdom, stretching his house's rule out to the sea.

Out of that conquest came the island as it would later be known: mountainous, small, ruled from Greenstone by the house that would eventually take its name.

Chapter 2

The landing by mistake

Books only

Part of the Golden Company, led by Marq Mandrake, lands on the coast of Estermont without having planned to: the island was never their objective. Even so, they take Greenstone, the seat of House Estermont.

Jon Connington, commanding the company, orders Mandrake to leave the island and rejoin him, but not before taking the captured Estermont nobles with him. Their blood ties to the two Baratheon kings make them valuable hostages, leverage for anyone looking to pressure that house.
