Bethany Redwyne

Bethany Redwyne is Lady of Goldengrove through her marriage to Lord Mathis Rowan, with whom she had three children. Born into House Redwyne, before that marriage there had been a failed attempt to wed her to a Tully.

Chapter 1

A betrothal that never reached the Tullys

Lord Hoster Tully considered Bethany Redwyne a possible match for his brother Brynden and raised the idea of the marriage. Brynden refused to marry, though, and the match never happened.

Bethany went on to marry Lord Mathis Rowan, becoming Lady of Goldengrove and having three children with him.

The lie that saved a reputation

Around the events told in A Game of Thrones, Bethany and Mathis Rowan's daughter was found with a bard named Dareon, in circumstances that threatened her reputation.

To shield her, Bethany claimed the young man had tried to force himself on her, and Dareon was sent to the Wall over the accusation.
