Robert Redwyne

Robert Redwyne was the eldest son of Manfryd Redwyne, Lord of the Arbor, and heir to the Reach's island stronghold. Rather than wait at the Arbor, he followed his father to the court at King's Landing and built his own career in the service of Jaehaerys I Targaryen's crown.

He rose to command the capital's city watch, a post from which he had to stand up to lords who tried to buy or threaten him.

In this chapterJaehaerys I Targaryen

Robert was the eldest of Manfryd Redwyne's three sons, alongside Rickard and Ryam. In 50 AC King Jaehaerys I Targaryen chose their father as his master of ships, and the three boys, still squires, crossed the sea with him to settle at the royal court in King's Landing.

Five years later, to mark the completion of the Dragonpit, a tourney was held in the capital. Robert crossed lances with some of the realm's finest warriors without taking the prize, while Rickard won the squires' competition and was knighted by the king himself.

In 60 AC the king placed him in command of King's Landing's city watch, the same year his brother Ryam swore his vows as a Kingsguard knight.

Twenty-four years later he had to bring before the throne three lords, Jonah Mooton, Roy Connington and Braxton Beesbury, who had abducted the court fool Tom Nabo and taken him to a brothel. Beesbury threatened him and Connington tried to buy him off with gold, and Robert refused them both.

He died in 89 AC, not long after his father Manfryd.
