Daemon II Blackfyre

Daemon was born the third son of Daemon Blackfyre and Rohanne of Tyrosh. As a boy he endured the mockery of his older brothers, Aegon and Aemon, who took pleasure in tormenting him and his friend Alyn Cockshaw. At just seven he began having dreams that later came true: he foresaw the deaths of his father and brothers and tried to warn them, only to be laughed at.

When his father and brothers fell defeated at Redgrass Field, Daemon was too young to take part in the fighting. His uncle Bittersteel, who commanded the cause's forces, took him out of Westeros to be raised in Tyrosh.

By the age of twenty-two, Daemon dreamed of a dragon hatching at Whitewalls. Lord Gormon Peake took the vision as a sign and convinced him his moment had come. Bittersteel, however, refused to back him and would not even give him his father's sword, a gesture that left doubt hanging over whether Daemon truly deserved the cause he was about to lead.

Once in Westeros, under House Peake's protection, Daemon dyed his hair to hide his Valyrian features and passed himself off as Ser John the Fiddler, a hedge knight fond of music. In that guise he arrived at the tournament Lord Ambrose Butterwell was holding for his second marriage at Whitewalls, where he crossed paths with Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg. While his own companions treated the strangers with contempt, Daemon was courteous to them and offered to travel together, though Duncan declined.

At the wedding feast he was given a seat of honor unfitting a mere hedge knight, and that same night he told Duncan he had dreamed of him clad in white, as a sworn brother of the Kingsguard. Alyn Cockshaw, reunited with Daemon, grew resentful of the attention he paid to Duncan. In the jousts, Daemon unhorsed Ser Franklyn Frey and Ser Galtry the Green, and witnessed Ser Glendon Flowers being accused of theft.

Duncan discovered who "Ser John" truly was and that night named him aloud before everyone, also revealing that Glendon had been framed. Daemon agreed to fight in his place in a trial by combat, but Glendon, still aching from his torture, unhorsed him on the first pass and left him sprawled in the mud, earning him the mocking name "the Brown Dragon".

When word came that Lord Brynden Rivers was marching on Whitewalls, Daemon tried to rally the castle's men to arms, but none would fight for a cause already lost. He offered to settle it in single combat against the royal host, and was instead taken prisoner by Brynden Rivers, who chose to keep him alive so that his uncle Bittersteel could not crown his younger brother Haegon.

After his capture, Daemon spent several years imprisoned in King's Landing, and little else is known of how his captivity unfolded. He is presumed to have died there around 219 AC, the same year his younger brother Haegon raised the Third Blackfyre Rebellion, though even that date for his death is not certain.
