Franklyn Frey was one of the brothers of the lord of the Twins at a time when Aerys I Targaryen sat the Iron Throne. Little else about him has survived except one detail: he was known as a capable jouster.

That reputation rests on two tournaments that are on record, Ashford and Whitewalls, and little beyond them.

Ashford Tourney

Franklyn entered as a competitor in the tournament held at Ashford, at a time when his brother already headed House Frey under the reign of Aerys I. How he fared in his tilts, or how long he lasted, is not recorded; the only certainty is that his name is among the jousters who took part.

Whitewalls Tourney

At the Whitewalls tournament he fared better. He faced Ser Harbert Paege and beat him, though it took five tilts to settle the match. In his next joust the result went the other way: Ser John the Fiddler defeated him.
