House Harlaw of Grey Garden
Casa Harlaw de Jardín Gris
House Harlaw of Grey Garden is a minor branch of the Harlaws, lords of a seat on the isle of Harlaw and sworn to the senior line based at Ten Towers.
What is known of the house comes down to one man, Ser Harras Harlaw, whose loyalty and skill at arms win him a lordship of his own amid the struggle for the crown of the Iron Islands.
Chapter 1
A knight among claimants
Books only
With the driftwood throne of Pyke left empty, the banners of the rival claimants begin moving across the islands in search of support. Asha Greyjoy notices Ser Harras Harlaw's standard raised over Ten Towers, a sign that the knight has thrown in with her cause.
The same banner turns up weeks later at Old Wyk, at the gathering called to decide who wears the crown of salt and rock. There Harras stands among the champions Asha presents before the assembled captains, and his uncle Aeron, priest of the Drowned God, singles him out in the crowd.
Chapter 2
The conquest of Greyshield
Books only
While the islands argue over the succession, the war does not wait. Harras takes part in the landing on the Shield Islands, where he plants his standard before the gates of Grimston, seat of House Grimm on Greyshield.
By the account that reaches Victarion Greyjoy through a kinsman, Harras cuts down seven defenders there on his own. The septon of Grimston reads the feat as a sign from the gods and yields the castle without further resistance.
The new king of the Iron Islands, Euron Greyjoy, rewards the victory by naming Harras lord of Greyshield, a title his branch of House Harlaw adds to those it already holds.
