Kingsmoot at Old Wyk

With the Iron Islands left without a king, the ironborn captains and lords gathered at Old Wyk to decide who would wear the crown of stone and driftwood. It was a custom nearly forgotten: two thousand years had passed since the ironborn had last chosen a king this way.

Among those who contested the assembly's voice were Victarion and Asha Greyjoy, each backed by support among the iron lords. But it was Euron Greyjoy who tipped the balance by producing the Dragon Horn and sounding it before them all. The man who blew it, Cragorn, did not survive the effort. The outcome left no doubt: Euron was proclaimed king of the Iron Islands.
