House Lannister of Darry
Casa Lannister de Darry
House Lannister of Darry is a cadet branch of the Lannisters of Casterly Rock settled in the Riverlands, sworn to House Baelish of Harrenhal. It rises out of another house's ruin: the castle of Darry changes hands when its old line is wiped out in the war.
Its lord is Lancel Lannister, a distant kinsman of the main branch, granted the castle and its lands as a reward after the Battle of the Blackwater.
Chapter 1
The end of House Darry
Books only
Darry once belonged to a house of its own, and the war erases it in blood. Ser Gregor Clegane, the Mountain, kills Lord Raymun Darry at the Battle of the Mummer's Ford.
When Raymun's son Lyman tries to reclaim the family stronghold, Clegane kills him too. With his death the Darry male line dies out, and the castle is left without a lord of its own blood.
Chapter 2
Lancel's reward

After the Battle of the Blackwater, King Joffrey rewards Lancel Lannister with the lands, the castle, and the rights that had belonged to House Darry.
Lancel settles at Darry once he recovers from his wounds. The fields beyond the walls, burned during the war, are being worked again: the smallfolk have dug up the grain they had buried to sow anew.
Chapter 3
The lord who gave it all up
Books only
As part of the alliance between the Lannisters and the Freys, Lancel marries Amerei Frey. Her mother was Darry-born, which strengthens his claim to the castle.
But the new Lord of Darry spends his days in the sept, praying, and neglects the running of his lands. The marriage is never consummated.
In time, Lancel gives up his wife, his lands, and his title, and joins the Warrior's Sons, the armed arm of the Faith of the Seven.
