Kear Umber

Kear Umber was a black brother of the Night's Watch, son of Hothor Umber and Amarylis Manderly.

Like so many sons of the northern houses, he left his home for the Wall, the fortress that separates the Seven Kingdoms from the frozen lands to the far north.

Kear Umber was born in 225 AC, son of Hothor Umber and Amarylis Manderly.

Nothing survives of his life before he took the black beyond that birth and that lineage; at some point he set out on the road so many northern second sons walked, toward the Wall.

Chapter 2

Frozen to death beyond the Wall

Kear Umber died in 275 AC, at the age of fifty, frozen in the lands that stretch beyond the Wall.

No further detail survives about the circumstances of his death beyond the cold and the distance from the fortress he had sworn to defend.
