House Santagar of Spottswood
Casa Santagar de Bosquepinto
House Santagar of Spottswood is a family of Dornish knights, sworn to House Martell and lords of Spottswood. Little of their history survives, but one curious detail does: their lords' devotion to the sand steeds of Dorne, deep enough to draw a king's remark.

Steeds in the hall

House Santagar arose during the Andal Invasion, one of many knightly families that Dorne kept close after the conquest. They settled at Spottswood, the seat that gives their title of Knight of Spottswood, and became sworn vassals of House Martell.
Little else survives of their early years, but one detail does: King Daeron I, writing of his Dornish campaign, noted how deeply Dornishmen loved their sand steeds, and held up the Santagars as the clearest case. By his account, the lord of Spottswood kept his horses inside his own hall, under the same roof as his household.
