House Gargalen of Salt Shore
Casa Gargalen de Costa Salada
House Gargalen of Salt Shore is a noble house of Dorne, sworn to House Martell, holding the stretch of coastline that gives it its name. Under a banner bearing a red cockatrice with a black serpent in its beak, its lords have stood beside the Dornish princes through some of the tensest passages in Dorne's dealings with the rest of the Seven Kingdoms.
Chapter 1
The squire of Salt Shore
Books only
Before he became Prince of Dorne, Doran Martell spent part of his youth serving as a squire at Salt Shore, the seat of House Gargalen. It was the lord of the house himself who brought him word of his sister Elia's birth.
Chapter 2
The brawl in Flea Bottom
Books only
Lord Tremond Gargalen traveled to King's Landing among the lords who accompanied Prince Oberyn Martell to King Joffrey Baratheon's wedding. The old grudge between Dornishmen and men of the Reach was quick to surface: by a cauldron-seller's stall in Flea Bottom, an argument turned into a brawl.
A Tyrell soldier was killed in the fight, and two of Lord Gargalen's men were left with severe burns.
