Yunkish siege of Meereen

The Yunkish siege of Meereen was the blockade that Yunkai and its allies from Slaver's Bay laid against the city ruled by Daenerys Targaryen, in answer to the queen's abolition of slavery there.
The slaving coalition wanted her overthrown and the city returned to its old order, and when Meereen tried to buy peace, the answer that came back from the Yunkish camp was a single word: war.

The slaving coalition

Daenerys's rule in Meereen, where she had abolished slavery and stripped the city's great families of their privileges, drew Yunkai's bitter hatred, and Yunkai answered with open war.
Yunkai sought support from other cities to bring her down and restore the old order to Slaver's Bay. New Ghis, Qarth and Volantis answered the call; Volantis brought a large fleet and several mercenary companies hired to counter the queen's Unsullied.
Chapter 2
The siege and Yunkai's answer

With the city surrounded, Yunkai and its allies laid siege to Meereen while Qarth blockaded the Skahazadhan, cutting off that route to the city.
Ser Barristan Selmy, who had taken charge of the city after removing Hizdahr zo Loraq from his consort's throne, tried negotiation first: he sent the Green Grace to the Yunkish camp with an offer of gold for the three hostages held there, Jhogo, Daario Naharis and the captain of the Unsullied. The answer she brought back was war.
