Battle of Gulltown
batalla de Puerto Gaviota
The Battle of Gulltown was the naval clash between the Targaryen fleet and the fleet of the Vale during the war that saw Aegon the Conqueror attempt to bring the Seven Kingdoms to heel. It marked the limit of the conquest by sea: neither dragonfire nor the Targaryen navy was enough to take the city.
Chapter 1
The rejected offer
Books only
Once it was clear that Aegon meant to bring all of Westeros to heel, the Vale's regent queen, Sharra Arryn, moved before the war reached her. She sent a portrait of herself and an offer of marriage, on one condition: that her son Ronnel be named heir.
Aegon refused.
Chapter 2
The two fleets

Now crowned, Aegon sent his fleet to take Gulltown. Daemon Velaryon commanded it; at his side, mounted on her dragon, rode Visenya.
In the bay the Vale's fleet got the better of the Targaryen one, and Daemon died in the fighting. Visenya answered from the air, burning the Arryn ships until nothing was left afloat.
When the smoke cleared, neither side had a fleet left. A draw that wasn't quite one: the Targaryens left without the city.
Chapter 3
The Sisters rise up
Books only
Gulltown stayed in Arryn hands, but the loss of the fleet had a cost elsewhere: the Three Sisters rose up against them.
