Visenya Targaryen daughter of Daemon
Not to be confused with Visenya Targaryen.
Visenya Targaryen was the only daughter of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and her second husband, Prince Daemon Targaryen, born at Dragonstone in 129 AC while her mother and her uncle Aegon II were locked in a war over the Iron Throne.
She held the title of Princess of the Seven Kingdoms, though her life was so brief that little survives of it beyond a dark, disputed account of the hours surrounding her birth.
Chapter 1
Three Days of Labor
129 ACBooks only
Rhaenyra's labor at Dragonstone lasted three days. When Visenya finally came, she was a month early; the maesters blamed the shock her mother had suffered on seeing her half-brother Aegon II crowned shortly before.
She was the last child born to Daemon and Rhaenyra, after her older brothers Aegon and Viserys, and a half-sister — through her parents' earlier marriages — to Joffrey Velaryon and to Baela Targaryen, among others.
The girl was stillborn. It was said that Rhaenyra, overtaken by grief and fury during the birth, cursed the daughter she could not save. Her words afterward were remembered: 'She was my only daughter, and they killed her. They stole my crown and murdered my daughter, and they will pay for it.'
Chapter 2
Mushroom's Tale
129 ACBooks only
The jester Mushroom, an unreliable chronicler of the court, told a far grimmer version of events: he claimed the infant's body was monstrously malformed, with a hollow in her chest where her heart should have beaten and a thick, scaled tail.
By his own account, it was he who carried Visenya's body to the courtyard of Dragonstone to be burned. No other witness backed the detail, and the princess's story was left resting on that single, doubtful telling.
