Vaella Targaryen daughter of Daeron

Vaella was born in the year 222 AC. Her father, Daeron Targaryen, was at the time Prince of Dragonstone; her mother, Kiera, had come from Tyrosh and before marrying Daeron had been the wife of his cousin Valarr Targaryen.

As the only child of the eldest son of King Maekar I, Vaella stood in the direct line of succession to the Iron Throne.

Daeron died of syphilis, and in 233 AC his grandfather Maekar I fell in battle. The throne stood empty, and Vaella, as the direct heiress, was a candidate to wear the crown.

A Great Council was called to decide the succession. There she was set aside for being a woman and for her frailty of mind, and the crown passed instead to her uncle, Prince Aegon.

Vaella is said to have been gentle of temper but weak of mind — the same frailty the Great Council invoked to set her aside from the throne.
