Aelor Targaryen
Aelor Targaryen was Prince of Dragonstone and heir to the Iron Throne during the reign of his uncle, Aerys I Targaryen, at a time when the Targaryen crown kept jumping from nephew to nephew rather than settling on a son of the king's own. He was the son of Rhaegel Targaryen and Lady Alys Arryn, and was married to his twin sister, Aelora.
Chapter 1
The lamprey pie that changed the succession
215 ACBooks only
Aerys I Targaryen sat the Iron Throne without a son of his own, and over his reign he recognized a series of heirs, none of them born to him. That gap fell first to his nephew Rhaegel.
In 215 AC, Rhaegel died at a feast, choked by a lamprey pie. His death left the title of Prince of Dragonstone vacant, and it passed to his son Aelor, who suddenly became next in line to his uncle's throne.
Chapter 2
Aelora's madness
217 ACBooks only
Two years later, in 217 AC, Aelor died in a violent accident whose exact circumstances are unknown. He was killed by his own twin sister, Aelora, to whom he was married.
The episode left Aelora mad with grief, and the sources say nothing more about what happened between the twins.
