Corwyn Velaryon

Corwyn was the oldest of Lord Daemon Velaryon's sons, the man who ruled Driftmark and held the rank of Lord of the Tides through Maegor I's reign and on into Jaehaerys I's.

Being firstborn placed him ahead of his brothers Jorgen and Victor as heir to that maritime domain.

Jaehaerys I Targaryen and his wife Alysanne spent the early years of their marriage keeping apart from court, by their own choice, at Dragonstone.

From there, on one of their outings, they flew to Driftmark to see the Velaryon shipyards for themselves, and during that visit they met Corwyn and his brothers, presented to the royal pair as the sons of the house's lord.

Though named as heir, Corwyn never lived to hold the seat: death caught up with him before it did his father.

When Daemon Velaryon died, Driftmark passed not to another son but to a grandson, Corlys Velaryon, Corwyn's own son, who thus inherited the title his father had never gotten to hold.
