Daeron Targaryen son of Aegon V

Daeron was born in 228 AC, the third son of the then-prince Aegon Targaryen and Lady Betha Blackwood. Duncan, Jaehaerys and Shaera had come before him, and his younger sister Rhaelle was born after.

In 233 AC, when Daeron was five, his grandfather King Maekar I Targaryen died. The Great Council convened that same year chose his father as the new king, and he went from being a prince's son to being the king's.

Convinced that marriages between siblings had done his line more harm than good, Aegon V broke with Targaryen custom and sought spouses for his children among the great lords of the realm, hoping to win their support for the reforms of his reign. The betrothals were arranged in 237 AC, while the princes were still children.

Daeron was matched with Olenna Redwyne, daughter of Lord Runceford Redwyne of the Arbor; both were nine years old. The engagement lasted nearly a decade, until in 246 AC Daeron himself broke it off. There was no other woman involved: he stayed unmarried for the rest of his life, known above all for the company of Ser Jeremy Norridge, a knight who had been his companion since they were squires together at Highgarden.

In 251 AC Daeron died in battle leading an army sent against three rebels known as the Rat, the Hawk and the Pig. Ser Jeremy Norridge fell beside him in the same fight.

The rebellion was crushed and its leaders killed or hanged, but by then the prince was no longer alive to see it.

Decades later, by then the Queen of Thorns, Olenna Redwyne confided to Sansa Stark that in her youth she had been betrothed to a Targaryen prince, and that she had done everything she could to keep that wedding from ever happening.
