Rhaelle Targaryen

Rhaelle Targaryen was born in 229 AC, the youngest child of the then-prince Aegon Targaryen and his wife Betha Blackwood. Three brothers came before her, Duncan, Jaehaerys, and Daeron, along with an older sister, Shaera. As a girl she called Maester Aemon uncle.

Once king, her father rejected the Targaryen custom of wedding siblings to keep the blood of Valyria pure, believing such unions did his line more harm than good. With Queen Betha he sought another path, marrying his children into the great houses of the Seven Kingdoms in hopes of winning the lords' support for his reforms. The matches were made and celebrated in 237 AC, while the king's children were still young.

Among them was that of Prince Duncan, heir to the Iron Throne, promised to a daughter of Lord Lyonel Baratheon. Duncan refused to honor it, and Lord Lyonel, enraged, rose in revolt against the Crown until Ser Duncan of the Kingsguard defeated him in single combat. To make amends, Aegon V offered the hand of his youngest daughter, Rhaelle, to Lyonel's eldest son.

To seal the match, the princess was sent to Storm's End, where she served as cupbearer and companion to Lord Lyonel's wife.

In 245 AC Rhaelle fulfilled her father's promise and married Ormund Baratheon, by then Lord of Storm's End.

The following year she bore his son, Steffon. It was through her that her grandson Robert would one day claim Targaryen blood in his bid for the Iron Throne during the War of the Usurper.
