House Crane of Red Lake is a noble house of the Reach, sworn to House Tyrell and seated by the lake that gives them their name. Tradition traces their origin back to a legendary daughter of Garth Greenhand said to turn into a crane, a gift that some of the house's women are said to keep to this day.

Legendary Origins

Legend places the origin of House Crane in Rose of Red Lake, one of the daughters of Garth Greenhand, and traces the house's descent back to her line. From her they are said to have inherited a trait the house still claims as its own: some of its women can supposedly turn into cranes, just as their ancestress was said to do.
