Elinor Tyrell

Elinor Tyrell comes from a minor branch of House Tyrell, the daughter of Ser Theodore Tyrell and Lia Serry. She becomes one of Margaery Tyrell's ladies-in-waiting and one of her closest confidantes, a position that puts her at the heart of the royal court at King's Landing.

Chapter 1

A betrothed's favor

Books only

When Stannis Baratheon's fleet sails up the Blackwater to attack King's Landing, the knight betrothed to Elinor fights wearing her favor. She herself is by then already among the ladies attending Margaery Tyrell in the capital, having come there with the rest of the Highgarden court.

In time Elinor wins Margaery's trust and becomes one of her confidantes, and through that closeness she strikes up a friendship with Sansa Stark, whom Margaery has begun drawing into her company.

That friendship does not stop Elinor and her cousins from turning their backs on Sansa at her wedding to Tyrion Lannister: the Tyrells had counted on Sansa marrying Willas Tyrell instead, and the match with a Lannister is taken as an insult. That night Elinor dances with her betrothed.

Shortly after, at Margaery's wedding to King Joffrey Baratheon, it is Sansa who returns the kindness and compliments her on the dress she is wearing.

Chapter 2

Arrested by the Faith

In this chapterCersei Lannister

Elinor remains in King's Landing for Margaery's wedding to the new king, Tommen Baratheon; at the feast she shares a cup of wine with Captain Aurane Mares.

At court she is part of Margaery's inner circle: she reads with her and, along with her cousins, receives messages passed on by Taena of Myr's handmaid. It is also known that a knight of the Faith pursues both Elinor and her cousin Alla Tyrell, and that she and Margaery's other cousins mock Ser Osney Kettleblack's looks.

That closeness to Margaery proves costly when Queen Regent Cersei Lannister moves against House Tyrell: the Faith of the Seven arrests Elinor along with Megga Tyrell and Margaery herself on false charges of fornication, and the three are held in the Great Sept of Baelor. When a septa examines her, it is found that Elinor is no longer a maiden.

Chapter 3

Slender and lighthearted

Books only

Accounts describe her as a slim, good-humored young woman, fond of flirting with whoever crosses her path.
