Megga Tyrell

Megga Tyrell is one of the young women who attend her cousin, Queen Margaery Tyrell, as a lady-in-waiting at the court of King's Landing. The daughter of Ser Olymer Tyrell and Lysa Meadows, she is part of the circle of Tyrell maidens surrounding the queen during the War of the Five Kings.

Her name becomes tied to court gossip and to the Tyrell royal weddings, until Queen Cersei Lannister's scheming reaches her directly.

Megga is the daughter of Ser Olymer Tyrell and Lysa Meadows, with two brothers, Raymund and Rickard Tyrell. She is a plump girl with a shrill laugh, close in age to Sansa Stark, and has no talent for singing.

Together with her cousin Alla, she follows the example of Elinor Tyrell, who has already flowered, and dreams of being kissed by a man; sometimes she plays at kissing games with Alla.

Chapter 2

The queen's ladies

Books only

At King's Landing, Megga is a regular member of Queen Margaery Tyrell's retinue. She attends the wedding of Sansa Stark to Tyrion Lannister, and during the feast she and her cousins pointedly ignore the bride, showing their displeasure at a match the Tyrells had wanted for Willas Tyrell instead.

That same night, Megga dances with Prince Tommen Baratheon.

Chapter 3

Suitors and gossip

Books only

After Margaery's wedding to King Tommen, Megga again dances with the new king and also with Ser Tallad the Tall. She and her cousins mock Ser Osney Kettleblack's nose, and her habit of sewing alongside Margaery does not go unnoticed: Ser Osmund Kettleblack reports it to regent queen Cersei Lannister, while Taena of Myr tells her that Megga takes a new suitor every fortnight and has kissed a kitchen boy.

There is talk of marrying her to Lady Bulwer's brother, though she would rather have Ser Mark Mullendore, who rides with her on the queen's outings. When Cersei announces that Ser Loras Tyrell has been wounded at the siege of Dragonstone, Megga bursts into tears.

Chapter 4

The Great Sept of Baelor

Books only

Cersei's scheming leads to Megga's arrest by the Faith of the Seven on false charges of fornication, along with her cousin Elinor Tyrell and Queen Margaery herself, and the three are held at the Great Sept of Baelor. During the arrest, Megga shoves a septa into some candles, setting her robe on fire. When examined, she is found not to be a virgin.
