Gormon Tyrell

Gormon is a maester of the Citadel and uncle to Lord Mace Tyrell, head of House Tyrell.

His name comes up in two internal affairs of the maesters' order: once he came within a step of taking a seat on the small council, and another time he served as a masked judge in a case within the Citadel itself.

The replacement who never was

After Tyrion Lannister strips Pycelle of his post, the Citadel's Conclave sets about naming a replacement. It passes over maesters Erreck and Turquin and settles on Gormon.

The choice never takes hold: as soon as Lord Tywin Lannister learns who the Citadel intends to send, he restores Pycelle's old standing as grand maester.

Chapter 2

The judge behind the iron mask

Gormon takes archmaester Walgrave's place behind an iron mask to preside over the trial of those attempting to forge the raven-husbandry link.

In one such proceeding he accuses Pate of theft.
