Leo Tyrell

Not to be confused with Leo Tyrell (son of Gareth) · Leo Tyrell (son of Victor).

Leo Tyrell, nicknamed Leo the Lazy, is a novice at the Citadel and the son of Moryn Tyrell.

He has no great reputation among the other acolytes, better known for taverns, card games, and a cruel tongue than for study, and he is one of the faces Samwell Tarly comes across during his early days in Oldtown.

Chapter 1

A sly face

Books only

In this chapterSamwell Tarly

He is fair-haired, with a soft, sly voice, and wears a short cloak striped green and gold that leaves one shoulder bare. Samwell Tarly, passing him in the halls of the Citadel, notices his paleness and good looks, but also a sly gaze and a hard set to his mouth.

He is not well liked among his fellow acolytes: he spends most of his time drinking and gambling, and enjoys mocking the other novices.

Chapter 2

Dragons at the Lucky Chance

Books only

After losing a good sum gambling at the Lucky Chance, Leo butts into the conversation Roone, Armen, Alleras, Mollander, and Pate are having about whether the sailors are telling the truth about living dragons in the world, and sides with them: to him, dragons are real. Once the others leave, he turns his sharp tongue on Pate and threatens to take the virginity of Rosey, the girl who has won the boy's heart.

Later, Samwell Tarly runs into him, together with Alleras, on the way to archmaester Marwyn's chambers. Leo's gaze is fixed on a candle flame and he is slow to recognize Sam; once he does, he only uses it to mock him and laugh at his reputation.
