House Tyrell of Brightwater Keep
Casa Tyrell de Aguasclaras
House Tyrell of Brightwater Keep is a cadet branch of House Tyrell of Highgarden, raised into a noble house of its own within the Reach. Its seat, Brightwater Keep, had belonged to House Florent.
It was founded by Ser Garlan Tyrell, second son of Lord Mace Tyrell, and the two golden roses on its arms mark exactly that: they belonged to a second son who needed lands of his own.
Chapter 1
The price of a rebellion
299 ACBooks only
Brightwater Keep had belonged to the Florents, until the house rose against the Iron Throne and paid for the defeat with its seat, its titles and its lands.
What the Florents lost went to Ser Garlan Tyrell, second son of Lord Mace Tyrell, as reward for his part in the Battle of the Blackwater. Out of that, in 299 AC, a new house was born within the Reach: House Tyrell of Brightwater Keep.
Chapter 2

But the title did not come with possession. Ser Colin Florent, named castellan of Brightwater Keep after his elder brothers left, still holds the castle.
Lord Garlan, its owner on paper, has yet to set foot in his own seat.
Chapter 3
An end that only exists on screen
304 ACShow only
In the television series, this house disappears with the Sack of Highgarden, in 304 AC. No written source records that ending: in the books, the story of House Tyrell of Brightwater Keep stays where Ser Colin Florent left it.
