Robert Tyrell
Robert Tyrell led House Tyrell and served as Grand Steward of Highgarden under King Mern VI Gardener.
His marriage to the king's youngest daughter began a custom the two houses would repeat eight more times, giving generations of Tyrells a claimed line back to Garth Greenhand.

Grand Steward of Highgarden
Books only
Robert inherited from his father, Ser Osmund, the post of Grand Steward of Highgarden, the office that ran the household and lands of the lords of the Reach under the Gardener crown.
He held that post through the reign of Mern VI, a king who came to value him enough to give him his youngest daughter's hand in marriage.
Chapter 2
The first of nine unions
Books only
That marriage was the first of nine unions that, generation after generation, would tie the Tyrells to the royal blood of the Gardeners. Through it, his children and grandchildren joined the ranks of those who claimed descent from Garth Greenhand.
Robert was succeeded as head of Highgarden by his son Lorent.
