Ormund Baratheon

In 237 AC, King Aegon V and Queen Betha Blackwood arranged marriage pacts for their children among the realm's great lords, hoping to win their backing for the Crown's reforms. One of those pacts promised Prince Duncan, heir to the Iron Throne, to a daughter of Lord Lyonel Baratheon, lord of Storm's End.

Duncan broke the betrothal, and Lord Lyonel answered with an uprising that only ended when Ser Duncan of the Kingsguard defeated him in single combat. To mend the offense, Aegon V offered his youngest daughter, Rhaelle, in marriage to Lyonel's eldest son, and the princess was sent to Storm's End to serve as cupbearer to the household until the wedding.

The wedding took place in 245 AC, with Ormund already lord of Storm's End. The following year the couple's son, Steffon, was born, and he would in time inherit the lordship.

The Tragedy at Summerhall claimed King Aegon V and much of the royal family. Under the new reign of Jaehaerys II, his brother-in-law Ormund came to serve as Hand of the King.

When Jaehaerys decided to send an army to the Stepstones to confront Maelys the Monstrous during the War of the Ninepenny Kings, Lord Ormund was one of the commanders of the Crown's forces. He fell among the first, dying in the arms of his son Steffon, who succeeded him as lord of Storm's End.

Command of the host then passed to Ser Gerold Hightower, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard.
