Prince Daemon Targaryen proclaims himself King of the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea, a title he takes by his own hand and without the Crown's leave.
The gesture comes while his brother Viserys I sits the Iron Throne, and it marks the way Daemon understands power: he seizes it and names it, rather than waiting for it.

That same year, at court, Ser Otto Hightower is replaced as Hand of the King by Lord Lyonel Strong, who until then served as Master of Laws. Princess Helaena Targaryen, daughter of Viserys I and Queen Alicent Hightower, is also born.
