The coronation of Viserys I is the act that closes the long reign of Jaehaerys I Targaryen over the Seven Kingdoms and opens a new one. With it, the throne passes to his grandson, chosen years earlier at a great council, and his wife Aemma Arryn becomes queen.

Viserys's Accession

The year 103, counted from Aegon I's coronation at Oldtown, is marked by two events that go together: the death of Jaehaerys I from old age and the crowning of his grandson Viserys, who takes the throne as Viserys I.

Alongside him rises his wife, Aemma Arryn, who becomes queen.
