Death of Aegon II

muerte de Aegon II

The death of Aegon II Targaryen in King's Landing brings the Dance of the Dragons to an end, the civil war that had split House Targaryen over the Iron Throne. The king lasts barely half a year back on the throne before dying poisoned, and no one ever establishes with certainty who did it.

Chapter 1

The poisoned king

131 ACBooks only

Aegon II returns to the Iron Throne as the Dance of the Dragons draws to a close, but he does not last a year in the seat: he dies poisoned in King's Landing.

The case is never solved. Twenty-two people are arrested over the regicide and no chronicle names a culprit. Larys Strong is among the suspects, but nothing confirms him as the one who poisoned the king.

He is succeeded by his nephew Aegon, Rhaenyra's eldest son, crowned as Aegon III. With him the civil war closes in peace.
