Capture of the Gay Abandon

The Gay Abandon was a Pentoshi cog that in 129 AC was meant to carry two Targaryen princes out of Westeros to Pentos, away from the fighting of the Dance of the Dragons.
The Triarchy's fleet, allied with the Greens, blocked its path through the Gullet before it reached open sea, and that boarding action was the spark that later set off the Battle of the Gullet.

The trap in the Gullet

Jacaerys VelaryonThe plan was Jacaerys Velaryon's: get his half-brothers Aegon and Viserys out of Westeros and into the keeping of a Pentoshi prince until Rhaenyra was secure on the Iron Throne. They were put aboard the Gay Abandon with an escort of seven ships.
The crossing never reached open water. Triarchy ships, standing with the Greens, fell on the convoy in the Gullet: the escort was sunk or taken, and the cog itself ended up in enemy hands with Viserys still aboard, now a prisoner.
Aegon alone slipped free of the boarding: he mounted his dragon and flew back to Dragonstone. The dragon, Borrasca, arrived from that flight badly hurt and died there soon after. What happened in the Gullet did not stay a simple raid — out of it came the Battle of the Gullet.
