Borros Baratheon's seizure of King's Landing

King's Landing spent weeks without any recognised government after Rhaenyra's army withdrew, caught between a mob stirred up by a wandering preacher and rival claimants fighting over its streets. It was Borros Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End, who ended that vacuum by forcing his way into the Red Keep at the head of his stormlanders.
His strike closed out what became known as the Moon of the Three Kings and put Aegon II back on the Iron Throne, in one of the last episodes of the Dance of the Dragons.

Corlys VelaryonWeeks after Rhaenyra's army left the capital, King's Landing had no recognised government. A preacher known as the Shepherd, who had survived the slaughter at the Dragonpit, held sway over much of the city, while two men had proclaimed themselves king on their own authority: Trystane and Gaemon Pelocandente. The deadlock broke when Lord Borros Baratheon forced his way into the city at the head of his troops. Trystane was executed and Gaemon taken prisoner, though he lived to see the war's end.
With the capital back under control, Aegon II was able to return and take up residence in the Red Keep once more. Corlys Velaryon, who had been imprisoned earlier, was freed and given a seat on the restored king's small council. Since Aegon II's only surviving heir was his daughter Jaehaera, he agreed to marry one of Lord Borros's daughters in exchange for his support.
