Aegon Frey

Aegon was close to fifty: thin, stooped, with long grey hair. He resembled his grandfather Walder Frey closely, though his eyes were larger and gentler than the old lord's.

He was regarded as simple and without malice, and treated as such within the household. He wore fine blue wool and grey satin, with a crown and necklace hung with small brass bells that gave him his nickname.

When Robb Stark arrived at the Twins to apologise for breaking his betrothal, Lord Walder had Jinglebell present at the reception. Catelyn Tully, the king's mother, read it as a deliberate slight against her son.

Even so, Robb spoke well of the courage of the late Ser Stevron, Aegon's father. Later, as Walder presented the women of the household, Lady Joyeuse Erenford kept Aegon from rising alongside them.

At the wedding feast of Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey, Aegon danced to "Alysanne", covered his ears when Greatjon Umber sang "The Bear and the Maiden Fair", and kept stealing food from other guests' plates as the musicians played.

When the killing began, he hid under a table, but Catelyn seized him and threatened to kill him unless Walder freed Robb, already struck by several arrows. Walder answered that he would sooner lose a simple-minded grandson than a son.

After Roose Bolton stabbed Robb, Catelyn cut Aegon's throat, and Ser Raymund Frey did the same to her moments later. Before being hanged by the Brotherhood Without Banners, Merrett Frey would cite Aegon's death as justification for that night.
